No. There is no sign-up, no login and no password anywhere in StudyLapse. Open it and start filming.
It films you while you study and compresses the session into a timelapse. You slate the take, press Lock in, and the camera rolls until you stop. What you get back is footage, a set of receipts for the session, and a record that adds up over weeks.
Any iPhone on iOS 17 or later. It is portrait-only and iPhone-only — there is no iPad or Mac version.
No. The camera is the product. StudyLapse needs camera access to film the take; without it there is nothing to make a reel from.
Never. StudyLapse has no microphone permission at all — iOS would have to ask you for one, and it never does. The only audio in a reel is the sound of the can being cracked, which is a sound effect that ships with the app.
You can, but the take stops being clean. A take where you never left the app pays 25% more, and the Production Report tracks how many of your takes were clean. Leaving does not end the session or lose the footage.
The camera is running, so it uses more than a plain timer would. StudyLapse darkens its own screen while filming to claw some of that back, and a tap wakes it for six seconds if you want to check your framing. For a long session, plug in.
The footage survives. StudyLapse writes the video in fragments and keeps a small record of the take beside it, so if the app dies mid-session it recovers the session and the footage the next time you open it. You lose at most the last twenty seconds.
Two minutes. Anything shorter is not really a session, and paying for it would make the numbers meaningless.
One filmed minute is one Charge. Hit the goal you set and the take pays 25% more; never touch your phone and it pays another 25%. A streak adds two per day, up to sixty. There is a daily ceiling of five filmed hours, which exists to stop an idle camera being worth anything.
No, and that is deliberate. Charge is earned by the minute and nothing else. The only currency in the fuel shelf is hours you actually filmed.
A day with no filmed take. Nothing else — not a short session, not an unclean one.
Full-length reels, every caption style and every share overlay. Without it, reels are capped at 30 seconds with three caption styles and one overlay.
Seven days. It starts when you begin the trial and can be cancelled any time before it ends without being charged.
On your iPhone: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → StudyLapse → Cancel. Cancelling at least 24 hours before the period ends stops the next charge. Apple handles all billing; we cannot see or take your payment details.
Tap Restore Purchases — it is in the footer of the offer screen and in Settings inside the app. That re-checks your Apple Account and puts Pro back. It works after reinstalling or on a new phone, as long as you are signed in with the same Apple Account.
Yes. There is a one-time lifetime purchase alongside the monthly and annual subscriptions.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in, and choose the purchase. If something in the app went wrong, email us as well and we will help you make the case.
On your iPhone, in the app's own storage. It is never uploaded. There is no StudyLapse server for it to sit on, so we could not watch it even if we wanted to.
Yes, and it is worth saying plainly: if you delete the app, lose the phone, or reset it, the footage goes with it. There is no cloud backup in this version. Export anything you want to keep.
Delete the app. Everything StudyLapse holds — footage, sessions, streaks — lives inside it and goes at the same time. There is nothing left on our side to request.
Nothing. No accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no third-party kits. The only network traffic is Apple's own purchase check.
Include your iPhone model and iOS version, and what you were doing when it went wrong. If a session is involved, the date and rough time helps us find it in your description.
